The Growth of America Depends on Low-Cost Energy

Does anyone in Washington understand America’s tremendous growth is dependent on low-cost energy? In the past, our nation always had low-cost energy. Since 1970 almost every candidate running for president has promised to make us energy independent. Neither Democrats nor Republicans have followed through. A few administrations have tried and at least made it a national issue. Despite their efforts none of them have been successful.

How is the current administration doing? Not very good! They don’t even understand the concept of low-cost energy. On the contrary, they have often espoused the concept of high-cost energy. President Obama, the Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar and Energy Secretary, Steven Chu didn’t manage to learn Economics 101. If they did, I think they skipped a few chapters.
A basic business concept is to keep improving your cost structure. A good entrepreneur or small business owner regularly reviews the cost of their products, services or items. This supports the building and delivery of their products and services. Can you imagine how long you could stay in business by deliberately increasing costs without an apparent benefit?
In many ways, the actions of the White House are understandable. The White House administration has fewer people with business experience than any other administration within the last 100 years. Some of their comments and actions reveal they are in over their heads.
For example; President Obama stated that under his plan for cap and trade it was necessary for electricity costs to skyrocket. He also projected that anyone who built a coal-powered plant would go broke. Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar has shut down off shore drilling. Energy Secretary, Steven Chu has asserted we need to boost gasoline prices to match those of Europe. Does anyone in the White House really care about the American citizen?
I have a partial solution, a simple recommendation to the White House. Please, please do not hire anyone else from Harvard. The country cannot handle anymore.
Someone please help me! I spend a significant amount of time trying to figure out if our government leaders are just plain stupid or if they are intentionally trying to screw us up. I have a difficult time believing it is either one of these two options. I wonder what causes our country to make so many stupid mistakes in terms of economics, foreign policy, immigration control and continual daily blunders.
Help! I would like to hear my reader’s perspective on these issues, so write me a comment. I will try to respond to everyone’s comments.
